Chiropractor Hit With This Stiff Sentence in Fraud Case

A chiropractor who once practiced in Arizona has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, ordered to pay $480,000 in restitution and perform 100 hours of community service. The stiff penalties are based upon the man using identities of more than 50 patients at Arizona Back Institute to open multiple lines of credit from banks. He also double-billed patients and submitted false claims for services that were not actually performed.

What To Do If You’ve Been Charged With Fraud in Arizona

As you can tell from the above rendered verdict, committing fraud opens yourself up to serious consequences. Potential penalties include jail time of up to 10 years, heavy fines and restitution. The actual penalties will probably vary – depending on how much was taken and past criminal records. Being falsely charged for fraud is not unheard of. In fact, there have been numerous cases of people being falsely charged by dishonest employers or coworkers. If you’ve been charged with fraud – rightly or wrongly – your number one priority is working with a lawyer skilled in fraud cases. This important first step is crucial in that the lawyer will build a defense strategy after investigating all aspects of your case.
