Woman Charged With Giving Pot Candy to Kids

A mother in Cottonwood who has a legal medical marijuana card is facing charges for allegedly giving her children pot-infused gummies.

The Case at a Glance

The woman received the pot gummies from another mom as payment for watching her children. Police believe the woman then deliberately gave the candies to her 11 and 12-year-old children, who began “acting crazy” after digesting it. While searching her home, police found a host of pot candies, including lollipops and more gummy bears, as well as a bag of just pot. Her charges include two counts of child abuse and two counts of possession of marijuana.

What the Cops Say

In speaking with reporters, Cottonwood Police Chief Stephen Gesell expressed a lot of concern over the various guises medical marijuana comes in. “It’s important for the public to be aware that marijuana intended for medical use can take on many forms. The marijuana industry continues to increase the potency to unprecedented levels,” he said.

Medical Marijuana Variety

Perhaps the best-known form of injecting medical marijuana is by smoking its leaves. Other forms of ingestion include:

  • Vaping
  • Edibles
  • Sprays
  • Patches
  • Suppositories
  • Beverages
